Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Not Require PS Plus For Its Online Component

Capcom’s upcoming action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, will not require PS Plus for players to use its online component.

The PlayStation Store page for the sequel to Dragon’s Dogma has been updated with information regarding the game, including details regarding its features. The page makes no mention of PS Plus as a requirement for the online component in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

As such, players will not need to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus in order to lend or borrow pawns. This is likely due to the game not featuring co-op multiplayer functionality, which would have required matchmaking in some shape or form. Those who are looking to recruit pawns that have been created by other players can freely do so in Dragon’s Dogma 2 without having to pay any extra cost.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to be released on March 22, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Players assume the role of the “Arisen,” a character marked by a dragon for defeat. They navigate the game world, complete quests, and combat monsters while being entangled in a geopolitical conflict between two kingdoms. The Arisen is aided by AI-controlled allies known as “Pawns,” who assist in battles, provide enemy information, and guide quests. Players can customize their own character and Pawn with various attributes. Additionally, they can recruit two Pawns created by other players.

Characters in Dragon’s Dogma 2 operate under vocations, determining their combat abilities and equipment. There are basic, advanced, and hybrid vocations, with hybrids exclusive to the Arisen. Only the Arisen and their Pawn can change vocations. The game offers returning vocations from the previous title and introduces new ones like Thief and Archer, replacing Strider and Ranger respectively. New hybrid vocations include Mystic Spearhand and Trickster, offering unique abilities and weapons. Progressing through vocations unlocks additional combat skills. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set in a seamless open world that is four times the size of the map in the first game.
