Microsoft is present at the Tokyo Game Show 2022 including the head of Xbox Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond, VP of gaming at Microsoft.

Since this year appears to be focused on Xbox’s presence at the Tokyo Game Show 2022, Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond were interviewed by several Japanese outlets including IGN Japan. During a live stream Q/A session by IGN Japan, Sarah Bond was asked to reveal if there is an exclusive game from a Japanese studio in development for Xbox.

This question was asked with examples of games being Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, and the answer given by vague but suggested that there might be some projects in development. Sarah Bond replied to the question with “completely” and talked about their partnership with various Japanese studios.

She mentioned having more than 250 developers working on various Xbox games. She also talks about how Xbox Game Pass has an incredible number of games from Japan with more than 100 titles that are playable on the subscription service. She teased that more details on these games will be revealed in the future.

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were both developed by Mistwalker, a studio founded by Final Fantasy creator and legend Hironobu Sakaguchi. While Sakaguchi doesn’t work on a console game now, he is still developing games including the recently released Fantasian for Apple Arcade.
